Frequently Asked Questions
We use Direct-To-Film (DTF) a new and innovative printing method that transfers designs from film to fabric using heat. It's a versatile and durable way to print on a variety of materials including cotton, polyester, leather and more.
DTF prints feel smooth, thin and are designed to feel more fabric-like than traditional vinyl transfers. It might feel a little rubbery at first but it becomes softer with washing. DTF prints are resistant to cracking and handle washing well.

Why Buy Custom Aprons?
Whether you’re flipping burgers at a BBQ, baking birthday cupcakes, or running a café, a custom kitchen apron is more than just a crumb-catcher—it’s a chance to personalise your style, show off your brand, or give a thoughtful gift. From embroidered names to printed aprons with cheeky quotes or full-on photo apron chaos, there’s a range of personalised aprons to customise for every mum, dad, baker, or backyard chef who loves to cook.
Apron Styles and Materials
Right, let’s talk styles first. Choosing an apron is like picking your outfit for the day—are you going for stylish, sturdy, or somewhere in between?
Popular Apron Styles
Bib Aprons: They cover the front from chest to thigh and are great for the kitchen, BBQs, and general flour-fighting.
Waist Aprons: Also called half aprons, waist aprons with ties are perfect for waitstaff, baristas, or anyone needing quick access to pockets.
Cross-Back Aprons: These are comfy choices with straps that crisscross at the back. They’re ideal if you hate neck strain (and who doesn’t?).
Children’s Aprons: Designed for little bakers and messy painters. Super cute, super washable.
Types of Fabric For Aprons

Cotton
Soft and comfy. Perfect for casual cooking and baking.
Polyester
Quick-drying and stain-resistant. Ideal for busy kitchens.Denim
Stylish and durable. Loved by baristas and cafés.
Leather
Heavy-duty and water-resistant. Built for BBQ pros.
Natural Linen
Light, elegant, and eco-friendly. Great for baking days.
Printing Methods We Use
When it comes to branded aprons, quality customisation isn’t just a bonus—it’s essential. Whether you’re outfitting a café team, launching a hospitality brand, or adding a sharp finish to event uniforms, how your design is applied makes all the difference.
DTF Printing – Our Preferred Method
We use Direct to Film (DTF) printing for one simple reason: it’s the most versatile, high-quality option available for aprons. It handles full-colour designs, gradients, fine lines, and black and white logos with ease. It’s perfect for intricate branding and delivers a long-lasting, professional finish that holds up to repeated washing and daily wear. Ideal for both bold graphics and subtle details, DTF also works across a range of fabrics—whether you’re after cotton drill, poly blends, or denim.
Other Popular Methods
Screen Printing: Best suited for bulk orders with single-colour designs. It’s labour-intensive and less flexible with complex artwork.
Embroidery: A premium option for those wanting a textured, high-end finish. Works well for names or logos, particularly on heavier materials.
Vinyl Transfer: Suitable for simple, one-off designs or short-term use. Less durable, but fine for light handling or promotional giveaways.

Design Tips for Custom Aprons
Logo Placement & Size
Think about where the eye naturally goes. A chest-centred logo? Classic. A small logo on the pocket? Subtle but slick. Just ensure it’s not so low it hides behind cargo pockets or gets lost in the folds. For branding (personalised aprons for men in a café or food truck, for example), go bold and visible. Something smaller and more personal works a treat if it’s for mum or dad at home.
Colour Contrast = Visibility
Dark apron? Light text or logo. Light apron? Go for darker prints. It sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how many people go tone-on-tone and end up with a design you can barely see. High contrast makes your aprons look sharper and easier to read, especially in a busy kitchen or at a Christmas dinner (yes, the apron deserves to shine).
Functional Features
Functional features can make all the difference when it comes to aprons that actually work in real environments. Think handy pockets for recipe cards, thermometers, or even snacks; loops for holding tea towels or kitchen tools; and adjustable straps—ideal when the apron’s being shared between housemates, team members, or bffs. These small details add real value without compromising the look.
Style + Practicality
Getting caught up in design details is easy, but don’t forget what the apron’s for. You want it to be stylish and easy to wear. Big bold print across a pocket? Lovely—unless it ends up covered in flour. Aim for balance: good placement, smart colours, and a design that’ll still look good after a few washes. Most platforms will cover the rest once you’ve nailed your design.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Tips for Apron-Specific Designs:
Keep the design area tidy—don’t spread out across seams or pockets.
Ensure the text is legible from a couple of feet away (especially if it’s a Christmas apron worn during chaotic family meals).
Test your design on light and dark versions for aprons available in multiple colours.
Working With Artwork
To make your apron pop, you’ll need print-ready artwork. Here’s how to ensure that your design looks just as you imagined it.
File Formats:
Always upload your design in a high-res format. The best options?
PNG with a transparent background
SVG (especially for logos or line art)
PDF for complex designs with layered elements
Avoid low-res JPEGs—unless pixelated potatoes are your brand.
Resolution Matters:
Aim for 300 DPI (dots per inch). Anything lower might look fuzzy or blurry when printed, especially on fabric where there’s texture to deal with.
Colour Mode – CMYK vs RGB:
Design in CMYK mode if you’re printing—it’s how printers understand colour. RGB is for screens, so while it might look amazing on your laptop, your apron could turn out a little “meh” if you don’t switch modes.
Bulk Orders and Corporate Branding
- Cost-effective – bulk discounts apply on larger quantities
- Professional and consistent branding across your entire team
- Simplified stock management – easy to reorder, replace, or scale up
Pocket or Pocketless?
Pocket aprons are great for busy staff who need storage—think pens, notepads, or tools. Pocketless aprons give a clean, modern look and are easier to maintain. Choose what fits your team best—we’ll handle the rest.
- Keep branding consistent across all apron styles by standardising logo placement, colours, and fonts—this helps reinforce a strong, unified identity.
- Choose durable materials like cotton drill or polyester blends that can handle frequent use and washing in commercial settings.
- Order in time to avoid last-minute stress—our standard turnaround is just 2–4 business days, so you’ll have your aprons ready when you need them.

Stain Removal Tips:
Let’s be honest—aprons are made to get messy. But you can still fight back against classic kitchen stains:
Cold water + baking soda paste
Dish soap + warm water blot
White vinegar + salt combo
Scrape, rinse, then soak in detergent |
The quicker you treat a stain, the better. Dab, don’t rub. And maybe wear an old T-shirt while cooking with turmeric.
Apron Care and Maintenance Guide
So you’ve designed an apron you’re proud of—nice work! Now, let’s keep it looking fab, even after a few spaghetti disasters or that time you forgot the lid on the blender (we’ve all been there).
Washing & Drying:
Most personalised aprons are fine in the washing machine, especially those made from cotton, polycotton, or cotton drill. But:
Wash inside out to protect any print or embroidery.
Stick to cold or warm water—hot water can mess with colours.
Tumble drying? OK only if the label says it’s OK. Otherwise, hang it up to air dry and avoid shrinkage.
Preserving Print Quality:
To keep those vibrant designs looking sharp:
Don’t bleach (unless you’re into accidental tie-dye).
Skip harsh detergents or fabric softeners—they can wear out the print faster.
For DTF prints, avoid ironing directly over the design. Flip the apron inside out or use a press cloth.
